CPI leaders meet Karunanidhi
Special Correspondent
CHENNAI: Communist Party of India leaders, led by State secretary D. Pandian, on Thursday met Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi and expressed concern over the Public Works Department’s move to demolish houses of people in Tiruverkadu, Ambattur, Tiruvallur and Kancheepuram, stating that they had encroached on catchment areas. They said these people had been living there for the past 30 to 40 years and they were all given power supply and ration cards.
They wanted the Chief Minister to direct the PWD not to displace them.
