NEDCAP to focus on building database on energy conservation

HYDERABAD: The Non-Conventional Energy Development Corporation of Andhra Pradesh (NEDCAP) will focus its attention on building up a database on consumption of energy and to collect information on firms consuming more than five kw.

This would enable the corporation to analyse and assess the energy loss and check it, said Lingaraj Panigrahi, Vice-Chairman and Managing Director. He was addressing the National Energy Conservation day jointly organised by NEDCAP and Energy Conservation Mission of Institution of Engineers (India), AP State centre, here on Friday. TheCorporation would have a concerted programme at school-level to create awareness among students on energy conservation. for which a token budget has already been provided. Students of 10-25 schools would be sensitised and trained on conservation of energy. to pave the way for saving power in houses and go a long way in the promotion of efficient power use.He presented the energy conservation best practices award to Hotel Daspalla, Visakhapatnam (hotel category) including a cash prize of Rs.10,000 , a memento and a certificate, and Rural Development Hospital, Bathulapalli village in Anantapur district. (a certificate and a memento).

V. L.Nanda Kumar, chairman of the mission, administered an energy conservation pledge to the gathering. C. V. Rao, coordinator, said that A ‘save energy walk’ would be organised on Dec. 16 from Necklace Road to the Institution of Engineers, Khairatabad.

Students of several educational institutions put up models on energy conservation. Some companies offered a discount on the sale of CFLs.
