Thiruvananthapuram
Thiruvananthapuram: The scheme under which fresh coconuts are procured from cultivators as part of the State government’s bid to check the falling price is being extended to three more districts – Thiruvananthapuram, Thrissur and Palakkad. Agriculture Minister Mullakkara Ratnakaran said here on Friday that the Principal Agricultural Officers would oversee the procurement in these districts. A Deputy Director was also given special charge of procurement. The procurement was being made by societies selected by Kerafed at the price of Rs 4.40 a nut. The procurement was progressing in Kollam, Alappuzha, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Kannur, he said.
