Chandigarh: Efficient energy use can save almost 125 lakh units of electricity daily in the State. Construction and energization of a new power generating project to produce this volume of electricity daily would cost Rs. 2400 crore and about three years time. It was stated by Ashok Lavasa, Financial Commissioner and Principal Secretary (Power), while emphasizing the need for energy conservation on the occasion of National Energy Conservation Day here on Friday. He stated that the Haryana Power Utilities had decided to replace all the conventional bulbs and tube lights with the Compact Fluorescent Lamps (CFLs). The arrangements have been made to ensure availability of CFLs in all operation sub-divisions on cheaper rates for the public.
