HUBLI: The Gadag district has stood first in the State in the implementation of various programmes under the Swarna Jayanti Gram Swarozgar Yojna (SGSY). This was disclosed at a review meeting of the Karnataka Development Programmes (KDP), chaired by president of the Gadag Zilla Panchayat Padmavati Telkar, at the panchayat auditorium on Friday. District Rural Development Agency (DRDA) Project Director V.S. Hiremath said that the district had set itself a target of extending financial assistance of Rs. 1.88 crore and imparting training to 168 groups and 39 individuals during the year. Till the end of October, a financial assistance of Rs. 1.72 crore had been extended to 117 groups and 27 individuals, helping the district to reach the top in the State as far as implementation of SGSY was concerned, he said. Reviewing the progress of projects under various government schemes, Ms. Telkar asked the officials to complete the process of implementing projects before the end of the financial year. Mr. Hiremath directed deputy directors of public instruction to take action against persons concerned in cases of lapses in the implementation of the midday meal scheme. He also asked them to conduct regular checks with regard to the scheme. He said that the action plans under the Sampurna Grameen Rozgar Yojna had been given sanction and asked the officials to implement them at the earliest. At the meeting, the officials of the Health Department were directed to complete health check-up programme for students who fall under the ambit of Suvarna Arogya Chaitanya. Panchayat vice-president Iramma Kattimani and chief accounts officer Prakash Borgaon were present.
