Silver medal at Commonwealth championship

SHIMOGA: Srishti J. Shetty studying in the ninth standard in the Sandeepini Higher Secondary School here has won the silver medal in the girls’ section (below 14 years) in the Commonwealth Chess Championship played in Delhi from December 2 to December 9.

It is the first international recognition to Srishti in chess competitions as she has so far won several State and national-level awards. She sprang a big surprise when she drew with the Hungarian Woman Grand Master Susan Pollar in an exhibition match in Bangalore on November 28.
