1,000 potential entrepreneurs to undergo training for six weeks before starting ventures Financial tie-up arranged through Indian Bank; bank looking for commitment and positive attitude TIRUCHI: The Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Institute, a Central government organisation, has planned to organise skill development training programmes across the State to meet industry requirements. The programmes will be conducted in association with the Confederation of the Indian Industry so that they can be tailored to meet industry requirements, said N. The programmes will start during the current financial year and will be held in major cities such as Chennai, Tiruchi, Coimbatore and Madurai, he told The Hindu on the sidelines of a guidance-cum-motivational camp for entrepreneurs organised by the institute in association with the Indian Bank here on Wednesday. The institute will also extend support in setting up common facilities for industry clusters in the State and proposals have been forwarded to the Centre. Motivational camps to identify prospective entrepreneurs for hand-holding are being organised in all districts across the State. About 1,000 potential entrepreneurs will undergo a six-week training programme before embarking on start-up ventures. Success storiesFinancial tie-up is being arranged through Indian Bank. Two similar programme held in Tiruchi last year has resulted in a 50 per cent success rate, with a handful of trainees turning first generation entrepreneurs. TIDITTSIA plea to entrepreneursPresident of TIDITSSIA S. Sridharan appealed to budding entrepreneurs to tap the emerging opportunities and the concession offered by the State and Central governments for micro and small entrepreneurs. Start-up ventures, with an annual turnover less than Rs.5 lakh, were exempt from Value Added Tax. R. Ravi, Deputy General Manager, Indian Bank, Tiruchi Circle, said the bank was looking for commitment, dedication and a positive attitude for financing the projects of entrepreneurs. Single windowGeneral Manager of the District Industries Centre V. Baskaran said the single window committee functioning in the district was facilitating expeditious sanction of all clearances for starting industries from various government agencies. Prospective entrepreneurs could utilise the government subsidy offered under various programmes, Mr. Baskaran said. Yakoob Sha, Assistant General Manager, Indian Bank, said the bank’s advances to the SME sector had grown by more than 100 per cent over the last two years.
