Sports meet held for disabled children

Tuticorin: The District Disability Rehabilitation Centre under the Union Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment and V. O.C. Educational Trust, Tuticorin, jointly conducted a sports and cultural meet for ‘differently abled’ persons here on Friday.

Competitions were conducted separately for mentally challenged, hearing impaired and orthopedically challenged children in events like ‘running with callipers’, running, long jump, speed walking, fancy dress and short put.

As part of cultural competitions, solo dance and group dances were organised.

A total of about 400 students studying at special schools functioning at Kovilpatti, Tuticorin, Sattankulam, Sawyerpuram, Muthiapuram and Nazareth, took part in the meet.
