dated December 15, 1957: D.K.’s policy

Mr. E.V. Ramaswami Naicker, leader of the Dravida Kazhagam, made an appeal to his followers not to get excited but to remain patient and disciplined in case he was sentenced to imprisonment and sent to jail by the Sessions Judge at Tiruchirappalli. Mr. Naicker who was addressing a public meeting at Periyar Thidal, in Egmore, on December 13, explained that he considered the struggle that they were carrying on for the last 20 years was now coming to fruition and requested them not to spoil it by taking any hasty action and resorting to violence. He sounded a note of warning that such actions might be taken advantage of by their opponents to spoil the name of their organisation.
