ISLAMABAD: The former Prime Minister, Nawaz Sharif, unveiled the Pakistan Muslim League (N) election manifesto in Lahore on Friday, saying the economic reforms he introduced in 1990 were an inspiration for India’s economic liberalisation programme the following year. The main point in the manifesto is the restoration of the judiciary ousted by the November 3 judiciary, and of the 1973 Constitution, that has undergone several changes under President Pervez Musharraf. It also promises to eliminate the role of the military in politics, and establish a tolerant society.
