KOLKATA: The prestigious Rs. 4.5 lakh prize money National grass court tennis championship will commence at the South Club lawns from Monday. The week-long Indian Oil Servo National meet, being held at this venue after a gap of four years, has received 86 entries in the men’s section and 51 in the women’s. The men’s singles champion will get a wild card for the Chennai Open in January, said Rajat Majumdar, president of the club. Karan Rastogi of Maharashtra and Rushmi Chakravarthi of Tamil Nadu will be the top seeds in singles. Former Davis Cupper Harsh Mankad of Maharashtra and former champion Syed Fazaluddin of Bengal have been given the wild cards. There will be 20 direct entries, four wild cards and eight qualifiers. The next two days will witness qualifying matches. The seedings: Men: 1. Karan Rastogi (Mah), 2. Ashutosh Singh (Dli), 3. Aditya Madkekar (Kar), 4. Divij Sharan (Dli), 5. Vivek Shokeen (Dli), 6. J. Vishnu Vardhan (AP), 7. Vinod Sridhar (TN), 8. P. Prajnesh Guneshwaran (TN). Women: 1. Rushmi Chakravarthi (TN), 2. Sonal Phadke (Mah), 3. Parul Goswami (Dli), 4. Sweta Kumari Solanki (Dli), 5. Ragini Vimal (Ben), 6. Rashmi Teltumbde (Mah), 7. J. Kesika (TN), 8. Anukriti Prasad (Dli).
