BANGALORE: Pioneer Corps Training Centre and Centre of Excellence set up a title clash in the State ‘A’ division hockey league in the final to be played here on Saturday. In the semifinals on Friday, PCTC beat Sports Authority of India 4-1 and Centre of Excellence defeated Postal by an identical margin. Pioneer Corps Training Centre was held at bay by SAI ‘B’ till one minute before the break when Mundu slipped past the defence and scored. PCTC combined effectively in the second half and Cyprian Aind (38trh & 42nd) logged a double. Kujur (49th) slotted the fourth goal for the winner. SAI ‘B’ managed to get a consolation goal when Mudappa (52nd) slammed in a hit off a penalty stroke. In the second semi-final Centre of Excellence got into the groove quickly with Sameer Baksh (5th) and Saeed Nihal (15th) striking in the first half. Prakash Chalke (20th) kept Postal’s chances alive in the first half. The second session was dominated by CoE with Amar Deep (45th) and Krishna Kishore (47th) putting the issue beyond doubt. PCTC will clash with CoE for the title in the final at 4 pm on Saturday.
