Sharmila wins title

MUMBAI: The 16-year-old Sharmila Nicolllet played like a seasoned golfer to win the WIGA-sponsored Ladies Western India Open Amateur golf championships at the Bombay Presidency Golf Course, Chembur, on Friday. It was her fourth title in 2007.

Shraddhanjali, nine strokes behind on the concluding day, managed four over 74 to finish second in the gold division.

Aarya Tikekar (Pune) won the silver division and Mumbai’s Sienda Madson bagged the top spot in the bronze division.

Major Dhruv Ghosh (WIGA) and Mrs. Asha Shah (Ladies Captain, BPGC) gave away the prizes. The event was co-sponsored by BPCL, Kaysons, IFFCO-Tokio, Needs of Life Co-op Bank and GKB Lens.
