Bonanza in store for film buffs

Hyderabad International Film Festival from January 3

HYDERABAD: Film lovers are in for a special treat with the Hyderabad Film Club doing an encore in joining hands with the Telugu Film Director’s Association to organise the second Hyderabad International Film Festival (HIFF) from January 3 to 10.

Film Club president and festival director Bh.S.S. Prakash Reddy said efforts were on to bring the latest package of films from countries like France, Korea, Japan, Iran, China, South Africa, Israel, Turkey, Algeria, Sri Lanka, Poland, and US. A section of festival films, under which the best of films that have been touring world-wide festival circuit too will form part of the screening apart from a separate competitive documentary section for Indian films, he said. There will be interactions with the directors, press meets and open forums for discussions.

Apart from world cinema, world classics, Indian classics, focus on a country, retrospective of In Kwon Tack (Korean film director), special package from France on ‘Living Together’, Telugu classics, Telugu popular cinema, etc., are to be the sections.

Prasad’s IMAX will be the main venue for all screenings and interactive sessions. Union Minister and veteran filmmaker Dasari Narayana Rao will be the chairman of the festival. The new advisory panel has prominent film personalities including D. Rama Naidu and M.S. Reddy.

Entry passes

Entry is strictly through delegate passes available for a fee of Rs. 500 for the entire period.
