‘BJP legislator will stage the protest with drums, empty buckets and empty pitchers’ The MLA claims that even the Bhagidari scheme has been a major flop NEW DELHI: A unique “musical protest” has been organized by BJP MLA from Saket Vijay at the residence of Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit this coming Sunday to highlight the alleged complete failure of her Government on nine major issues of development as it completes nine years of rule in Delhi. Water and electricityAddressing a press conference, Mr. Jolly said the demonstrators – comprising primarily residents of his constituency -- will stage the protest with drums, empty buckets and empty pitchers to bring into focus the poor availability of water and electricity and the abysmal condition of the roads in their colonies. The MLA also charged that there was widespread corruption and the Delhi Government had made a mockery of the legislative process by calling for short sessions of the Delhi Assembly to avoid criticism. Even this time, he said, the Winter Session will be of only three days from December 26. Charging the Delhi Government with failing on “good governance”, the MLA claimed that even the Bhagidari scheme has been a major flop. He charged that while many colonies are still going without adequate water, on the power front fast running meters and frequent cuts still harass people after privatisation and consequent tariff hikes that have resulted in loot of public money. He said the Congress Government has also failed to get any of the 1,539 unauthorised colonies regularized thus far and lakhs of residents were therefore still living in unhygienic conditions. He also criticised the Government for adopting a liberal liquor policy and opening vends in densely populated colonies. The MLA also claimed that law and order had deteriorated, education department has failed to fill up posts of teachers and many schools do not have proper toilets and drinking water facility. The public transport system was also in a shambles, the MLA said, adding that while the reign of killer Blueline buses continues, the Government has found tinkering with various transport models such as High Capacity Bus System, Electric Trolley Bus concept, Mono Rail System and then the Elevated Road Transport System. As a result, he said, traffic snarls are still common in Delhi. Fair price shopsThe MLA also claimed that the Public Distribution System was in a bad shape and people were not getting rations from the fair price shops.
