TDP MLA wants to know number of vacant doctor posts Probe into discrepancies in ZP meet agenda copy MACHILIPATNAM: The District Development Review Committee (DDRC) meeting held here on Friday witnessed angry scenes with MLAs shouting at each other. Nandigama MLA Devineni Umamaheswara Rao (TDP) and Machilipatnam MLA Perni Venkataramaiah (Congress) were short of throwing cordless mikes at each other as the tempers ran high amidst the meeting. The health care issue triggered a heated discussion in the meeting as Mr. Umamaheswara Rao sought to know how many doctor posts were lying vacant in the district. Mr. Venkataramaiah immediately intervened and suggested District Medical and Health Officer R. Madhava Reddy to inform the meeting how many posts were vacant during the TDP’s rule. Responding to it, Mr. Umamaheswara Rao said it was not proper on the part of Mr. Venkataramaiah to make similar demands on each subject. It prompted a verbal duel between both the MLAs who shouted at the top of their voice. The issue subsided with intervention of Vuyyuru MLA K. Parthasarathy and others who suggested that the warring MLAs maintain calm. Earlier, a discussion on the Indiramma housing also resulted in a verbal duel between TDP and Congress MLAs. Mr. Umamaheswara Rao pointed out that information provided in agenda copy of Zilla Parishad (ZP) meeting and in DDRC agenda copy did not tally. “While the DDRC copy says that 60,519 houses were sanctioned in the district, the ZP agenda copy put it as 70,000,” he said. Housing schemeThe Congress MLAs alleged that the TDP MLA was nitpicking unable to bear the success of Indiramma houses scheme. District In-charge Minister and Revenue Minister Dharmana Prasada Rao did not favour the proposal. Meanwhile, District Collector Naveen Mittal asserted that information provided in the DDRC agenda copy was authentic. Mr. Mittal also said he would inquire into the discrepancies in the ZP meeting agenda copy. Ministers Mandali Buddha Prasad, Pinnamaneni Venkateswara Rao, Koneru Ranga Rao, Government Whip S. Udaya Bhanu, APCOB Chairman Vasantha Nageswara Rao, ZP Chairman K. Nageswara Rao, MP Lagadapati Rajagopal, MLAs Devineni Rajasekhar, B. Vedavyas, Sheik Nasar Vali, Y. Raja Ramchander, K. Parthasarathy, Perni Venkatramaiah, M.Venkat Pratap Appa Rao, MLCs Paladugu Venkat Rao, Ilapuram Venkaiah, Y. Rajendra Prasad, Laxman Rao, Jelli Wilson and others were present.
