Man stabbed to death Crime notes

BANGALORE: A 45year-old man was stabbed to death in Fraser Town police station limits on Thursday.

The police gave his name as Syed Altaf, a resident of Sagaipura. He was an employee of a fish shop in Russell Market. He had 11 children from his two wives, the police said.

Altaf, an alcoholic, was found sleeping in a front of a building on Vivian Road in Fraser Town since morning on Thursday. Towards evening, the watchman of the building informed Altaf’s brother.

On finding that Altaf dead, his brother lodged a complaint with the police. During autopsy it emerged that he had been stabbed in the lower abdomen, the police said.

The Fraser Town police have registered a case.

Robbed

Four armed men struck at a construction labour contractor’s house at Siraj Layout on Hosur Road around Thursday midnight, attacked him and his wife and robbed the woman of her gold mangalasutra worth Rs. 20,000. The police said the robbers smashed the main door of Kumar’s house with a boulder and attacked him and his wife Mariyamma with clubs.

After they snatched her mangalasutra, she raised an alarm and the robbers ran away.

The Tamil and Kannada-speaking robbers, aged around 25, were wearing white shirts and trousers, the police said. The Parappana Agrahara police have registered a case.

Businessman robbed

Two men attacked a businessman with a chopper and robbed him of Rs. 5,000 in Silver Jubilee Park police station limits on Thursday night.

The police said Saleem Pasha, who owns a hardware and furniture shop at Masti in Malur taluk of Kolar district, had come to SJP Road here to purchase furniture.

Around 10.30 p.m. while he was waiting for a goods vehicle to transport the furniture, a man held him by his neck and another attacked him with a chopper. They also took away all the cash from his trouser pockets. Pasha’s fingers were almost severed in the attack, the police said.

On being informed of the incident, the police chased and arrested the two men, one from Mysore and other from Haleguddadahalli on Mysore Road and recovered the money from them.

In a similar incident, five youths stabbed two men and robbed them of Rs. 500 cash and a mobile phone in Subramanyapura police station limits on Thursday night. In a swift action, the police chased and arrested the five in the early hours of Friday.

According to the police, around 9 p.m. the armed men attacked Amarshakthi, an employee of a leading construction company, and his friend Virupaksha with knives near Vinayaka cinema in Jambusavaridinne.

Around 2.15 a.m. on Friday, the police arrested the five and recovered the cash and mobile phone from them.

The arrested were identified as Manjunath (20), Vasanth Kumar (20), Suresh (22), Govindappa (21) and Kumar (21), all residents of J.P. Nagar and surrounding areas.
