Sandeep cracks century

HYDERABAD: A century by Sandeep Singh (124) helped OU Arts College record a convincing 127-run win over Roda Mistry College in the OU inter-colleges cricket tournament here on Friday.

The scores: Little Flower Degree College 118 (Santosh four for 24) lost to Nruptunga Degree College 122 for four.

OU Arts College 272 (Sandeep Singh 124) bt Roda Mistry 145 (Mahipal four for 26, Narasimha Rao four for 29).

Cat Degree College 150 (Shadab 42, Saif-ul-Hasan five for 20) lost to St. Joseph’s Degree College 154 for five.

Govt Degree College 154 (Sridhar 76) lost to Jagruthi Degree College 156 for eight (Rajiv 42, Sridhar four for 13).

Badruka College 242 (Manoj 80, Amith 48, Nadeem 40) bt Sri Sai Degree College 160 (Shanawaz 35, Sairam four for 27).

SD Signodia College 136 lost to MJ Engg College 140 for five.

Loyola Academy 253 for three (K. Sudhir Reddy 73 not out, Gopi 69) bt St. Mary’s College of Engg 187 (Naveen 54).

Inter-college meet

The sixth S.R. Champions Trophy inter-engineering colleges cricket tournament will be held in Warangal from January 8 to 18, according to A. Madhukar Reddy, secretary-cum-correspondent of SR Engineering College.

The event will be conducted on league-cum-knock-out basis and more than 50 teams are expected to vie for top honours. The organisers have extended invitations to a few corporate groups so as to enable engineering students to have an interaction with them.

Gowrishankar XI wins

Gowrishankar XI scored a comfortable 4-1 win over Sporting Football Club in the semifinal of the Susai memorial football tournament at Trimulgherry Village Grounds here.

For the winner, mid-fielder Alfred netted a brace while right-out Nitya and half-back Johnson scored one goal each. The consolation goal for the loser came through striker Majid.

The final will be played on Sunday.

SCR ‘B’ wins

South Central Railway ‘B’ defeated SAAP Centre of Excellence 25-15, 25-6, 26-24 in the league match of the fourth Kasala Ramaswamy & Laxmi Devi memorial prize money volleyball tournament here.

For the winner, Abdul Raheem and G.Giri Gowda played well while for the loser Md Ahmed and A. Shanker put up a good show.

Wesley College wins

Wesley College defeated Vivek Vardhani College 61-56 in a league match of the CCOB inter-college basketball tournament here.

The Andhra Pradesh team to take part in the 21st sub-junior national gymnastics championship for boys and girls to be held in Allahabad from Saturday has been named here. The team: Boys: D.
