MALAPPURAM: The Students Islamic Organisation (SIO) will organise a conference to declare the Malabar education rights here on January 3. The conference will be titled ‘Is Malabar within the education map of Kerala?,’ Anees Farooqi, public relations secretary of the SIO, said. A book highlighting the problems faced by Malabar in education will be released on the occasion. The conference is part of an ongoing campaign by the SIO against the neglect faced by the northern districts of the State in education. Jamaat-e-Islami Amir for Kerala T. Arifali will inaugurate the conference. People’s Democratic Party leader Abdul Nasir Maudany will deliver the keynote address. Tribal leader C.K. Janu; Indian National League leader A.P. Abdul Wahab; and the former Education Minister Nalakath Soopy will address the conference.
