Environment protection week

PUDUCHERRY: The need to protect the environment was stressed by speakers at the National Environment Protection Week celebrations held recently at Thattachanvady Government High School.

A press release from Headmaster G. Ramamoorthi said that prizes were distributed to students who had won in competitions such as elocution, essay writing and drawing.

Students who maintained the school garden were also given prizes.

The Pollution Control Committee, the Environment Education Cell of the State Training Centre and the Department of Education had organised the celebrations.

It included a rally to create awareness of the need to protect the environment among the public, the release added.
