CPI(M) leader flays State Government

Special Correspondent

ONGOLE: The CPI (M) leader Nomula Narasimhaiah criticised the State Government for failure to do anything for the welfare of farmers and dalits in the last three and a half years of its rule.

Speaking to newsmen here on Saturday, he pointed out that the Congress government did not take any steps to put an end to the exploitation of farmers.

It did not constitute the promised market development fund with Rs. 1,000 crore.

Though it has accepted the recommendations of Jayati Ghosh Commission, it did not implement any of them till now.

The farmers continue to suffer due to spurious seeds, fertilisers and pesticides and its high prices.

The government spent crores on Jalayagnam but could not create any additional ayacut till now, he added.

Answering questions, Mr. Narasimhaiah said that it is the responsibility of the UPA government to adhere to common minimum program for its survival.
