Senthil Kumar slams century

Coimbatore: A fine knock of 124 by Senthil Kumar enabled Cosmo Village Sports Academy score a 22-run win over Red Diamonds Cricket Club in the Sri Ramakrishna Mills prize money knockout cricket tournament at the SNR Sons grounds here on Saturday.

After posting 247 in 29.5 overs, Cosmo Village restricted its opponent to 225 for nine in 30 overs. Medium pacer Sivakumar (five for 39) played a crucial role for the team picking five wickets.

The scores: Cosmo Village SA 247 in 29.5 overs (Senthil Kumar 124, Vijayakumar 43, Haridass four for 40) bt Red Diamonds CC 225 for nine in 30 overs (Niwaz Ali Khan 46, Haridass 35 not out, Sivakumar five for 39); Wings CC 158 for nine in 30 overs (Edwin 41) lost to Arumugam XI Patriots CC 159 for seven in 25 overs (P. Sivakumar 40, K.C. Pradeep 41 not out, R. Shanmugasundaram 40).

Wonder XI wins

At Udhagamandalam, Wonder XI Cricket Club defeated Wellington Cricket Club by five wickets in the Canara Bank-NDCA ‘B’ division league for the A.R. Rajoo Gowder Memorial Rolling Trophy at the Cordite Factory grounds on Saturday.

The scores: B division: Wellington CC 159 for nine in 35 overs lost to Wonder XI CC 161 for five in 33.4 overs (D. Nandakumar 43, Charles 43).

‘C’ division: Rising Stars 140 bt Zeal Guys CC 58 (M. Ubaid five for 24); Riverside CA 224 (J. Sivakumar 59, Mansoor Salauddin four for 30) bt Galaxy CC 202 (J. Manikandan 68).

Easy for Young Buds

Young Buds Recreation Club got the better of JM Sports Club 4-1 in the opening fixture of the NDFA-Lions Club of Ooty Town second division football league at the HADP Open Air Stadium on Saturday.

The results: Young Buds 4 bt JM SC 1; Four Hills SC 1 drew with Nilgiris Challengers 1, Oriental FC 4 bt Hills King SC 1, Golden Arrows 0 drew with CFA SC 0, Meeckeri FC 1 bt United SC 0.
