Picture of grief: M Sadanandam, father of Manisha, breaks down on seeing his daughter dead in a well in Thatikayala village in Warangal district on Sunday. WARANGAL: The 11-year-old girl, M Manisha, who was kidnapped six days ago, was found dead in an agricultural well on the outskirts of Thatikayala village in Dharmasagar mandal, 25 kilometres away from the district headquarters, on Sunday afternoon. According to the police, going by the indications of the body, she was strangulated to death. As the body was decomposed, the police suspect that she might have been killed four days ago. On Sunday afternoon, Thatikayala resident N Sailu came to his fields. He went to draw water from his well and found the body floating. He immediately alerted the local MPTC P Ramesh and sarpanch Ramchander, who in turn informed the police. Matwada police station inspector K Dakshinamurthy, KUC SI B Sadananadam and Intejargunj SI B Ravinder rushed to the spot alongwith the parents of Manisha for identification. Body identifiedThe police retrieved the body from the well and the parents identified it as their daughter’s. She was in uniform when she left for school on Monday morning from her residence in Kashibugga. The girl was kidnapped on Monday soon after she left the school in the evening. A few minutes later, her father, M Sadanandam, a trader at the agricultural market, received a call from unidentified persons stating that they had kidnapped the girl and sought a ransom of Rs 25 lakh. The incident posed a big challenge to the police. They formed six special teams to nab the culprits, but in vain. They took into custody two relatives and another suspect for questioning, which also proved futile. Police cluelessThe case shook the department if the DGP’s visit to the district on Saturday to take stock of the situation was any indication. Even after six days of kidnap and until the body was found in the well, the police still remained clueless though they claim to have got some clues and were working on them. The incident that drew much public attention came to a tragic climax.
