People protest against erratic power supply

Special Correspondent

SORAB: Residents of Talagadde and Lakkavalli villages in Sorab taluk laid siege to the local MESCOM office here on Saturday to protest against erratic power supply.

They said that though it was agreed upon that power would be supplied for six hours during day time and eight hours in the night, it was being cut indefinitely without any advance notice causing a lot of hardship to the people. They complained that the disruption in power supply had affected the water supply and agricultural operations.

The villagers complained that the staff of the MESCOM who disconnected power for non-payment of bills and did not restore it even after the payment of the bills.

They presented a memorandum seeking the shifting of the local staff in view of the allegations against them.
