‘Teaching is above all professions’

Correspondent

SIRSI: Teachers must have involvement in their work and inspire and transform students in such a way that they become useful to society and nation, said Kannada columnist Chakravarti Sulibele.

Speaking at Uttara Kannada District Teachers and Non-Teachers’ Association here on Sunday, he said teaching was above all professions. Teachers should command respect through affection and effectiveness.

In addition to teaching of prescribed lessons, teachers have to instil confidence and moral values, he said. Certain individual likings and behaviour of teachers should be conditioned by themselves in the interest of the students and society, he said.

Former MLC K. Balkrishna Bhat, president of the State-level teachers association, R.M. Kuberappa, North Karnataka convener of the association, Mahabaleshwar Sindhi , co-general secretary of the organisation, and others were present on teh occasion .
