Post-mortem report to confirm exact cause of death No visible injury marks on bodies of the deceased NEW DELHI: Four daily wage workers were found dead in the store room of a banquet hall at Vasant Kunj here over the weekend. The police said they did not suspect any foul play. According to the police, the tragic incident came to light around 10-30 a.m. when an employee of D-Mark banquet hall went to the store room and discovered the bodies of the four workers. He immediately informed his seniors who in turn called in the police. The four were identified as Anna, Preetam, Krishna and Vinod, all residents of a nearby village. They had vomited before they died. Enquiries revealed that the four were hired by the banquet hall on a temporary basis for dish-washing and other menial work during a party organised on Friday. As they had to work till late, they decided to stay for the night in the store room of the hall, the police said, adding that the store room is connected to the ladies’ toilet and lacks proper ventilation. There were no visible injuries on the bodies. On the basis of preliminary findings the police suspect that the four died due to food poisoning or because of inhalation of toxic fumes emanating from the three manholes located in the toilet room. “The post-mortem report would confirm the exact cause of their deaths,” said a police officer, adding that investigations were on to find if any banquet hall staffers were in any way responsible for the incident.
