A musical protest by BJP

Staff Reporter

“Delhi Government failed to give bijli-sadak-pani to people”

NEW DELHI: Senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader and Saket MLA Vijay Jolly organised a musical protest on the issue of “bijli-sadak-pani” at Jantar Mantar here on Sunday.

Residents of Saket constituency drawn from Sangam Vihar, Deoli Road colonies, Tigri and Khanpur, J.J. Camp, Pushp Vihar, Saket and Lado Sarai participated in the musical protest that was organised on the occasion of 9th anniversary of the Congress-ruled Delhi Government.

Accusing the Delhi Government of failing to address the issues concerning power, road and water supply in the city, Mr. Jolly said even after nine years in power the Government has failed to provide drinking water to residents of Mehrauli district and Outer Delhi’s urban and rural villages from the Sonia Vihar water treatment plant.

‘Failed on all fronts’

“The 24X7 scheme of the Delhi Jal Board proved to be a non-starter. Failure to connect Sonia Vihar plant with Sangam Vihar and Deoli Road colonies is a glaring example of Delhi Government’s failure on the water front. Fast running meters, inflated bills, frequent power cuts and autocratic functioning of the private discoms had badly affected the common man. Over 1,500 unauthorised colonies have not been regularised despite the long rule of Congress Government in Delhi,” added Mr. Jolly.

Mr. Jolly also lamented that the Government had not been able to reign in the “killer” Blueline buses. “The much acclaimed Bhagidari scheme has flopped too. Failure to get full Statehood for Delhi and multiplicity of authorities under Central and Delhi Congress rule are the hallmarks of this incompetent State Government.”

Senior BJP leader Vijay Goel, BJP Delhi general secretary Pavan Sharma and Pravesh Verma, son of late Sahib Singh Verma, also spoke on the occasion.

During the protest, drums and other musical instruments such as ‘dhols’ and ‘nagaras’ were played to voice the people’s anguish over issues concerning power, road and water supply in Delhi.
