THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan has convened a meeting of officials of various departments on Monday to sort out issues connected with Sabarimala pilgrimage. An official spokesman said here on Sunday that the conference, scheduled at 11 a.m., would discuss all the problems at Sabarimala, including sanitation and crowd control. Members of the Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) have not been invited to the conference as it was a conference of government departments. As of now, about 5,000 government officials, including the police, were serving at Sabarimala. Coordination and management of various pilgrim facilities posed challenges. The government had already taken steps to increase the police force at the pilgrim centre and improve sanitation facilities.
