Priority for the poor in housing schemes

Special Correspondent

JAIPUR: The Rajasthan Minister of State for Urban Development, Pratap Singh Singhvi, has announced that the poor and weaker sections of society would get priority in all urban housing schemes in view of an exorbitant increase in the prices of land and houses in cities.

Presiding over a meeting of the Consultative Committee attached to his Ministry here over the week-end,

Mr. Singhvi said the proposals for new housing and commercial schemes in Jaipur would be prepared shortly after the completion of Hasanpura railway overbridge.

Encroachments

Mr. Singhvi said the encroachments on the road between Gandhi Circle and Jhalana would be removed, while the Rajasthan Housing Board and Jaipur Development Authority would formulate schemes for constructing 4,000 houses and developing two new colonies, respectively, for weaker sections by March next year. The Minister assured that the applicants left out in the previous housing schemes would be reconsidered in new schemes.
