Coimbatore: The Puthiya Tamizhagam founder leader, K. Krishnasamy, on Saturday demanded that the State Government should immediately promulgate an ordinance for taking possession of the nearly 100 acres of land allegedly encroached upon by the Vanniya Education Trust at Konerikuppam, about 110 km from Chennai. Talking to newspersons, Dr. Krishnasamy said that the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam leaders were indulging in a statement war with the Pattali Makkal Katchi leaders over the issue of lands being encroached upon by the trust. He also raised questions as to who were the members of the trust. With Electricity Minister Arcot N. Veerasamy making an open charge “backed by documentary evidence”, he wondered why the State Government was hesitating to take possession of the land. Action“In the event of the Government failing to initiate lawful action, the people would have to resort to action for restoring these lands,” he cautioned. It was unfortunate that when several lakhs of people were yet to get even three cents of land for a house site and poor farmers waiting for even two acres, several acres were being encroached upon in this fashion. He also flayed the PMK leader, Dr. Ramadoss, for his diatribes and personal attack on Mr. Veerasamy. Dr. Krishnasamy pointed out that the PMK leader was indulging in such personal attacks on almost all political party leaders. He also raised questions on the source of funds in the possession of various organisations and trusts run by the PMK leaders’ family. He urged the Union Government to come out with a white paper on the permission accorded for private medical colleges, recognition for post-graduate and research programmes in various institutions and on the contracts signed by the Union Health Ministry with the pharmaceutical companies in the last three years. He demanded that Mr. Ramadoss upholding integrity in public life should come out with a statement on the source of income of various organisations run by the PMK leader’s family members failing which others would have to disclose these details.
