Bhubaneswar: The government has asked mining companies across the globe to come forward for value addition of minerals within the State and contribute towards its economic growth. The call was given by State Steel and Mines Minister Padmanabha Behera at the 7th International Mining History Congress, which concluded here on Sunday. “Though Orissa has received huge investment in steel and aluminium sector, it is yet to get any lucrative proposal from global mining giants,” he said, adding the State had ample opportunity for investment in some other sectors. Sectors like beach sand, nickel, diamond, gold, granite, gemstones, tin ore and limestone remained untapped, he said. Delegates from countries like United Kingdom, USA, Canada, Australia, Spain and South Africa attended. – PTI
