Concert to kick off Christmas fete in city

Gloria Deo, a non-stop three hour concert organised by Live Jam, will set the tempo for this year’s Christmas festivities here on December 22.

The mega event, scheduled at Nishagandhi, will feature Vijay Benedict, playback singer who shot to fame with ‘I am a disco dancer’ from the hit movie ‘Disco Dancer,’ along with Ken Henson, a vocalist from the United States, Ter a Mathews, opera singer from Canada, Kevin Wilson, singer, from the United Kingdom, Ebenezer M. John, a pro classical guitarist with two albums to his credit, and Alphonse, an upcoming music director from the State.

Highlight

The Yeshuva Band, a teenage band sensation from Mumbai with three hit singles, lead by Cameron Mendes will be the highlight of the show.

“O Holy Nite,” the popular Christmas song made famous by Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston, will be rendered by Tera Mathew.

Denise Jacob, who co-ordinates the event, said: “A notable aspect of this year’s concert is that artistes from different genres of music, including rock, pop and classical music, will render devotional songs.”

The show is directed by Bony Andrews, a singer based in the city with experience in conducting Christian entertainment events in New Zealand, the U.S. and West Asia. “Using music as a tool, we hope to offer hope and direction to young people to live life to its fullness,” said Mr. Andrews.
