Remove garbage in closed vehicles

Removal of garbage to Vilappilsala in the night is not a bad idea. But something has to be done to prevent the smell emanating from the Corporation vehicles, creating suffocation not only to the people residing along the route, but also to those staying in interior areas. This has become a regular feature. Removing garbage in closed vehicles will be a good idea. It may also be experimented to add some chemicals to the waste so as to minimise the smell.

Need for traffic signal system

The traffic guard appointed by Kerala University in front its gate is doing his work well. But his work fails to achieve the desired result, as he has no power to book erring vehicles. This is a busy junction. Vehicles are coming from five directions — AKG Centre, University Library, underground road, Kunnukuzhy and university premises. Pedestrians are getting no care, as there is no zebra-crossing at this junction. A traffic signal system is badly required at this place.

More mobile Maveli stores

The prices of essential commodities, especially rice, have gone up considerably during the past few weeks and the common man are the worst-sufferers. Although the government has started more Maveli stores and Christmas fair where rice is available at Rs.14 a kg, all the people are not able to make use of this facility. Here comes the need for more mobile units of Maveli stores. These mobile Maveli stores can move about in every part of the district so that the local people can purchase essential commodities at affordable prices.
