Focus on infrastructure

The Ministry of Railways plans to run high-speed trains to reduce travel time between major cities. The Railways have already introduced super-fast trains with limited halts, collecting extra fare from passengers. But the purpose of the special trains has been defeated later, as the Railways began providing extra halts to these trains following requests from the public. I request authorities to give priority to strengthen the existing system by improving infrastructure and facilities to commuters rather than focusing on high-speed trains.

Speed up airport development

It is a fact that the development of information technology industry in Vijayawada depends on the development of airport, as software companies prefer to open their units only in those places that have better air connectivity. Non-development of airport is one of the reasons that has contributed to the delay in construction of the IT Park. Once the air connectivity improves, IT giants select the city as their destination. Despite allocation of funds by the Government, the airport has not yet been developed. It appears that there are some hidden factors behind the delay in airport development works.

Provide facilities at RTC bus-stand

A good number of people pass through Avanigadda and Challapalli every day by bus. Sanitation at Avanigadda and Challapalli bus stations is very poor and there are no basic facilities like toilets and drinking water for commuters. As a result, commuters are facing several difficulties. Despite several requests, APSRTC officials have not taken any steps to improve the conditions. I request the higher ups to look into the issue and address the long-pending problem of the public.

AIR programme

All India Radio has been broadcasting a programme to ask questions to doctors, but it is limited to psychiatrists. There are many sections of medicine dealing with various parts of the human body, and doctors specialise in each field. Even psychiatry has many branches. It is high time the AIR gave equal importance to other branches of medicine and utilised the services of doctors who have specialised in different branches of medicine.
