Plan to scrap subsidies, says TDP
HYDERABAD: The Telugu Desam on Sunday charged the Centre and the State government with preparing the ground for scrapping subsidies and other concessions and urged them to immediately give up the “anti-poor stand”. Or else, a “people’s struggle” would be taken up to force the government concede the demands.
This was stated by TDP legislator and chairman of Public Accounts Committee (PAC) Y. Ramakrishnudu in a statement here on Sunday. He accused Prime Minister Manmohan Singh of trying to ‘mislead’ the people and said that it was not proper to claim that equity was not being achieved through subsidies, while not rectifying lapses, corruption and lack of accountability in the implementation of the schemes.
