Karun aims to compete in F-1 in 2009

Karun Chandhok, who test drove for the Red Bull Formula One team this year, said he was aiming to race in the 2009 Formula One season.

“I’ve been in negotiations with some of the top five teams in Formula One, and am looking at the right options.

“As far as 2008 goes, I will carry on in GP2 and will test drive for Red Bull. I’m aiming for an F-1 race in 2009,” he said at a press conference, organised as part of his homecoming celebrations by Amaron, here on Sunday.

New brand logo

Karun’s new brand logo — Madras Missile powered by Amaron Pro Racing — was also unveiled at the conference. “The logo is appropriate, and I will do my best to live up to the missile part of it,” said the 23-year-old.

“Karun has done the sport proud, and we are positive this will reinforce more support for motor racing,” said Jay Galla, MD, Amararaja Batteries Ltd.
