MUMBAI: Sachin Tendulkar (for crossing 11,000 Test runs and 15,000 ODI runs) and Jhulan Goswami (ICC women’s cricketer) — two of India’s biggest cricket achievers, were among the awardees at the BCCI Awards 2007 function on Sunday, applauded by Indian cricket luminaries, past and present, along with the Australia-bound Indian cricket team. BCCI president, Sharad Pawar, addressed the gathering. Nari Contractor, recipient of the Lifetime Achievement award, expressed his delight in being considered for such a rare distinction by the Indian cricket fraternity. Anjum Chopra, Anju Jain (Arjuna awardees), Jaya Sharma (best women cricketer), Team India stalwarts Rahul Dravid (for crossing 10,000 ODI runs) and Anil Kumble (for crossing 550 Test wickets and India captaincy) were also honoured. The awards function was boycotted by news photographers in protest against the lack of arrangements by the BCCI. — Special Correspondent
