Call for CMH Road bandh tomorrow

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: The executive committee of the CMH Road Shops and Establishments Association has called for a CMH Road bandh on Tuesday to protest against the decision of Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) to start Metro Rail work on the road.

Expressing anger over the statement of BMRCL that it would start work, the association says that BMRCL should have waited for the decision of the court as the matter of the alignment of Metro Rail is pending before the High Court of Karnataka.

The association claims that BMRCL fearing that the decision may go against it, wanted to hasten work on the road to show to the court that it has done enough work and it cannot retrace.

A peaceful procession in protest against the alleged high handedness of the BMRCL will be led by Pramila Nesargi, former chairperson of Karnataka State Women’s Commission, from BM Shri Circle, Indiranagar.

Traders, residents and employees of CMH Road and 100-Foot Road will participate in the procession, according to a release from the CMH Road Shops and Establishments Association.
