Awards presented

CHENNAI: Playback singer P.B. Sreenivos was presented the Star of India award and conferred with the ‘Sangeetha Rathna’ title at the Wisdom International awards ceremony on Friday.

Editor of Wisdom monthly magazine K.V. Govinda Rao said the publication had grown over the past 35 years into a volume that was popular with the young and old in India and abroad.

The awards instituted by Wisdom aims at recognising stalwarts in various fields, Mr. Govinda Rao said.

The K.V.S. Sarath Babu Memorial Award and ‘Seva Rathna’ title went to C.G.K. Somayajulu, managing director of Kamakshi Group and trustee of Ananthapadmanabaswamy Temple.

B. Shivkumar, Chairman and Managing Director of Shivas Systems and Services, presented the award. Awards were also presented to home guards, students, teachers, stage artists, a constable, a bus driver and a bus conductor for outstanding performance in their chosen fields.
