Big haul of rectified spirit

VILLUPURAM: The police here, during vehicle checks on Sunday night, seized 11,900 litres of rectified spirit worth Rs.7 lakh, being illegally transported by a lorry, at Kannikapuram near Tindivanam.

According to Superintendent of Police A. Amalraj, the police secured two drivers, K. Sathish (27) of Kerala and V. Vasu (39) of the Nilgiris.

They told the police that they were asked to take the vehicle from Vellore to Tindivanam and did not have any knowledge about the cargo. — Special Correspondent
