Protest against ‘government’s failure’

BJP State president to lead the Yatra on December 29

BJP alleges that criminals are working in Sabarimala

ALAPPUZHA: The Bharatiya Janata Party will conduct a ‘Sabarimala Samrakshana Yatra’ from Pandalam to Pampa on December 24, protesting against the government’s “failure” in protecting the interests of devotees at the pilgrim centre.

According to BJP State general secretary A.N. Radhakrishnan, the party’s State president, P.K. Krishnadas, would lead the Yatra, which would begin at 9 a.m. from Pandalam on December 24 and culminate in a public meeting at Pampa the next day.

The Yatra, Mr. Radhakrishnan said, would highlight various issues that were “plaguing the holy spot,” including the aravana controversy and also the alleged presence of more than 40 noted criminals from Kannur who were working in Sabarimala to hide from the police.

Mr. Radhakrishnan made the announcement in Chengannur after a meeting of the district office-bearers of the party on Monday.
