PERAMBALUR: Forest Department officials seized the carcasses of two deer, which were run over by unidentified vehicles, near Sithali, on the Perambalur–Ariyalur highway, on Monday.
The deer, including a female, was aged two years and had come from the Kunnam reserve forest area, official sources said.
While the carcass of one of the animals was found on the road, the other was in a ditch at a distance.
The officials sent the carcasses for post-mortem. A case under the provisions of the Wildlife Act 1972 has been registered.
