Ponmudi Estate land: reports denied

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs M. Vijayakumar has denied reports that the Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology has sought land at Ponmudi Estate for development of its campus.

Though it might have raised such a demand during discussions, no formal requests had been made, the Minister said here on Monday. The government had not considered the matter as the estate was in private hands now. Instead, it was offering government land.

Though the 100 acres of land offered by the government was not suitable forconstruction in its entirety, part of it was usable.
