East Bengal wins qualifier
CHENNAI: East Bengal won the Chandigarh leg of the Nike-MUPC Under-15 North and East Zone qualifier which concluded on Sunday. In the final, East Bengal edged out SBHS Football Academy by a Biswajit Natta’s second half goal.
Earlier in the semifinals, East Bengal had got the better of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan FA 1-0, Natta being the scorer, while SBHS put out St. Stephen’s Football Academy 1-0. Prabjoth Singh scored the match-winner.
In the final level of competition to be held at the Duler stadium in Goa from January 16 to 20, the four semifinalists will join Cosmos Tiruvellur, Sporting Club de Goa, Salgaocar SC and Mahindra United, who had finished last four in the Chennai phase where the competition was for teams from South and West zones.
