Navdeep wins doubles title

NEW DELHI: Navdeep Singh in partnership with Alexander Slabinsky of Britain won the doubles title in the ITF men’s Futures tennis tournament at Lagos, Nigeria, last week.

Navdeep and his partner beat the second-seeded Idan Mark and Amir Weintraub of Israel 7-6(2), 3-6, 10-7 in the final. The duo accounted for the top-seeded Antal Van Der Duim and Boy Westerhof of the Netherlands 6-4, 3-6, 10-6 in the semifinals.

However, in singles, the Indian success was restricted to Rupesh Roy and Sunil Kumar making the second round.
