Ismail scores a brace

KOCHI: K. Ismail netted twice in a seven-minute spell in the second half as Universal, Kozhikode, defeated Cochin Port Trust 3-1 and entered the semifinals of the third P.M. Sayeed all-Kerala registered sevens football tournament at the floodlit Veli Ground, Fort Kochi, on Sunday night.

Shaiju Alex gave Universal the lead in the 12th minute and eight minutes later, Anoj scored the CPT equaliser. But Ismail’s strikes, in the 21st and 27th minutes, helped the Kozhikode side emerge a comfortable winner.
