Cleanliness campaign takes off at Srirangam railway station

TIRUCHI: Divisional railway authorities on Monday conducted a cleanliness campaign at the Srirangam railway station.

They sought the cooperation of people in helping the railway administration to keep the station premises and trains clean.

As part of the campaign, inaugurated by Divisional Railway Manager, Tiruchi, R.C. Jat, the railway officials distributed pamphlets containing messages on cleanliness to passengers at the station.

Besides officials attached with the Medical Branch of the Southern Railway, members of St. John’s Ambulance Brigade, a students’ team from Srimad Andavan College of Arts and Science, Srirangam, and members of the Civil Defence of the railways were also involved in the campaign.

Led by Mr. Jat, members of the ambulance brigade and railway officials took out a rally in the station to drive home the message of cleanliness.

The divisional authorities had carried out similar campaigns at Tiruchi Fort, Tiruverambur, Thanjavur and Villupuram railway stations.

S. Ramasubbu, Additional Divisional Railway Manager, Dr. Kasthuri Bai, Chief Medical Superintendent, Railway Hospital, Ponmalai, and senior divisional officials participated in the campaign.
