Auto-lifters held
NEW DELHI: Five persons allegedly involved in auto-lifting have been arrested by the South Delhi police. The police claim to have recovered 18 stolen vehicles at their instance.
According to the police, two of the accused, Lokesh Malik and Somender Dhankar, were arrested at Kalkaji on December 11 with a stolen Indica car. Subsequently three more persons -- Anil Kumar, Anand Kumar and Ashok Kumar – were arrested.
The police have recovered nine Indica cars, three Maruti Alto cars, two Maruti Esteem cars, one Mahindra Bolero jeep, one Chevrolet Tavera and two motorcycles from the accused.
They also claim to have recovered fake registration papers, rubber stamps and mechanical instruments used to break the locks of the vehicles from them.
Lokesh led the gang, while Anand Kumar was the receiver of stolen property.
