Nabbed with animal parts
NEW DELHI: Two persons have been arrested by the North Delhi police for allegedly selling parts of wild animals.
The police claim to have recovered five claws of lion, two kasturis of deer, two claws of owl and organs of other animals, besides 24 bottles of oil extracted from wild animals.
According to the police, the accused -- identified as Dadu and Vicky, both brothers -- were arrested on Patri Qutab Road at Lahori Gate on Sunday. The recovered material could have fetched them Rs.10 lakh, the police said.
During interrogation, the accused allegedly disclosed that they were from a tribal caste hailing from the forest regions near Nasik in Maharashtra. They have been indulging in illegally selling of wild animal parts since childhood and had come to the Capital to earn quick money through it, the police said.
