VIJAYAWADA: Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy has agreed to positively consider the demand for exclusion of ground floor of apartments and multi-storey structures for the purpose of calculation of 18-metre height for regularisation of buildings in municipalities and municipal corporations, as per a decision taken by the Cabinet recently. Dr. Reddy was responding to an appeal made by Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee executive member Kolanukonda Sivaji in Hyderabad on Monday. Mr. Sivaji said he had taken to the notice of the Chief Minister, Municipal Administration Minister Koneru Ranga Rao and Advisor to the Government K.V.P. Ramachandra Rao the problem highlighted by Lok Satta Party leader Adusumilli Jayaprakash, who wanted exclusion of ground floor of a building from the calculation of its height. In another issue, The Tax Payers’ Association has termed ‘illegal’ the collection of ‘infrastructure tax’ of Rs.10,000 per flat from the apartment complexes under construction. Association president V. Sambi Reddy and secretary M.V. Anjaneyulu said the collection of ‘infrastructure tax’ was nothing but “double taxation”.
